Emilia Romagna region is known worldwide for its’ great food tradition. An agricultural base which offers its’ finest products and an inborn propensity for being hospitable guarantee the maximum culinary results. Carpi, along with other cities in the region, is a location full of aromas, perfumes and strong flavors. Carpi specializes in cheeses, fine salami, tortellini soup and tortelloni with potato filling accompanied with traditional sauces like cream of truffles or bacon sauce.

Our region is not only known for its’ food but also for its’ artistic masterpieces. The Palazzo dei Pio , which is called “The Castle” by the locals is a monumental complex formed by rock, towers, courtyards and buildings constructed between the XIV and XVII century. The splendid fresco wall painting decorations in the main hall were painted by Giovanni della Sega and Bernardo Loschi in the middle of the 1400’s. These artists belonged to Alberto III Pio’s court.

The Palazzo dei Pio had some damage during the May 2012 earthquake. Almost the entire structure can be visited; this is attributed to the restoration work that took place in the last few years. The areas, which can be visited, are: the children’s castle, the museum and the Pio family residential quarters which has added more history, art, pleasure and fun.

Hotel, Shopping and Italian experiences

Among many facilities surrounding Carpi, we selected some of the best one to make your stay a better experience.

Many modern shops in a magnificent setting: boutiques, tobacco shops, pastry shops, department stores and jewelry stores, but also coffee bars and restaurants. 2 kilometers of arcades make a walk around Carpi an enjoyable moment. The network of factory stores producing knitwear and clothing is interesting as well, in fact you can buy directly from the production points.

Carpi should be visited by strolling around the historical city center, where you can see its past and present in every corner through the very impressive and beautiful monuments constructed from medieval times to Renaissance.
